You’d think after a hurricane, we’ve earned at least a few weeks rain free… alas here’s a few shots from the wet streets.

There was a slight breeze and birds chirping this morning as the eye of hurricane Irene passed directly overhead. Which is all to say that beyond some strong wind and lots of rain our neighborhood was spared any real damage.

When it gets unbearably hot or the weather is just terrible…
the group that normally hangs out at the McCarren skate park moves a few blocks away to a dry spot under the BQE. I stopped there for a few minutes today to get away from the rain, chat with the skaters and take some photos. I’m hoping to spend some more time in the near future with these kids- they’re good people and aren’t afraid to be in front of the camera. Here’s a few of the photos…

Movie night madness….
I arrived around 4:30 and by 5pm they opened the lawn with a mass of people rushing in to claim their space.
Palm Springs…
We’re going way back now. This shot is from a trip down to Palm Springs I took with my parents during high school. This was some of my first experiments with long exposure at night and while I can’t remember exactly what year it’s from, I do remember the exposure was 8 minutes at f/5.6.

Living in New York we’re surrounded by some of the most beautiful and stunning architecture and yet it’s hard to see it with fresh eyes at times, to not to take it for granted, let alone imagine the people who dreamed it up and those that built it.
So it was impressive running into Jason Harte and the guys at Universal Glass and Door Inc. the other day. They were in the midst of installing a glass window the size of a small truck just off 5th Ave. and it was fascinating to see it come down, not to a piece of machinery or specialized tool, but to a group of guys, bending at the knees and lifting a glass wall by sheer strength.

After the blizzard that shut down New York two weeks ago, everyone was a little on edge with news of a new snow storm hitting the city yesterday. So naturally I set up my camera to capture it covering mid-town. Unfortunately or rather fortunately it turned out to be more flurries that didn’t quite accumulate. Watch the time lapse of it all below. Approximately 6 hours in just over 40 seconds.
Enjoy!
A little quality family time in Florida.
The Epic Mini Golf Battle of Christmas 2010 between Nick and Mike Krautter. With voice overs of course.
And Christmas day with the Moss Family.
I would have gone anywhere for this wedding, but it was so great to get back to California for a quick trip to Sonoma and Gaurav and Miriam’s wedding. It had been way to long since I’d seen Gaurav and all the guys from Cal-Poly and in a way it felt like going home.
The wedding itself was beautiful, albeit a little hot, but it cooled down for the reception and the dancing and festivities were great.
Here’s a few photos from the day. It was so great seeing all you guys again. I can’t wait to hang out with you in New York and I promise, it won’t take me so long to get back out to Cali next time.
